Car got towed from aptcomplex...no signs indicating I couldn't park where I did
I parked my truck near the leasing office of a friend's apartment complex. I was visiting my friend at his apartment, and I always park in these spaces. There is no sign indicating what these spaces are for, such as: ''Future Resident Parking,'' ''Parking for Leasing Office,'' ''Employee Parking,'' etc. There is also no sign stating that you will be towed from these spaces if you park here. The only sign that is up is the one for the handicap spot, and I did not park in this space. I parked my truck in a space on Saturday morning. My truck got towed from this space on Sunday morning. I returned to my auto to leave the complex to find that my truck was not there. Since there we no signs indicating anything about these spaces, I did not know if my car was stolen or got towed. The leasing office was closed, so I called the 24 hour emergency number for the apartment complex. They informed me that my car was towed and where it was at. I had to pay $125 to get my car. The leasing office is saying that these spaces are for people visiting the leasing office. There are no signs indicating this, as I said before. Should I go after them to get my $125?

Generally, a sign is required. However, that sign may be at the main entrance to the property so you need to be very sure there is no sign. However, beyond that, common courtesy and consideration would dictate that a person not take up the limited spaces most complexes have for their daily business, especially on a Saturday. Rarely is not obvious the spaces are for the leasing office.
