My children attended an academy online (homeschooling) last year. I recently lost my job and could not afford the monthly tuition payment. Wanting to put them back in public school, I have been faced with many issues. The main one was the fact that the homeschooling program will not release their transcripts because of lack of payment. I offered to pay them small payments each month because that's all I could afford. They didn't budge. Now, my high school daughter is going to have to take several tests and exams just to prove she did the work. What can I do to make the program release their files? I wouldn't mind paying them a small amount every month til it's paid off.

In some cases you may be able to file bankruptcy, wipe out the balance, and get the transcripts that way. See a bankruptcy attorney about that possible third choice.
I sympathize with your plight, however, having your daughter tested is not such a bad thing. The home school does not have to acccept payments as they are not a bank. Either arrange to borrow the funds or take the tests. I would not file bankruptcy unless you have many debts. Bankruptcy is not cheap and by the time you pay for a bankruptcy and the filing and other miscellaneous fees attorney, you probably could have paid for the school records. You can try one final option if you have not already done so - write a letter to the headmaster and see if they will make an exception if you make payments. Otherwise, save up the funds and when you get enough, get the records.
