Church bylaws

is a baptist church in GA required to have bylaws and can we recind the ones now in place?

If the church is organized as a non-profit corporation, then, yes. It will need to have by-laws in place. And in order to amend the by-laws you will have to follow the rules in the current by-laws (or Georgia law if they do not address it).

We do not know if the church is a coproration, profit/nonprofit, or some other type of entity, so we can't guess what you have to have or what you should have. If no one in the church knows about the business structure and requirements, you are well advised to see a business lawyer and make sure everything is done properly. It is a small investment for very important matters.
