civil action

i received a loan from a cedit union but lost my job about a year later. when i started working i made arrangements to pay back the loan but could not keep up the payments. my last payment was in december of 2007. i just received a court order to appear in court on august 5th about this loan. what must i do.

Either pay what you owe, or, if you can't, see a lawyer. A bankruptcy may be a good option to wipe out the debt. Call me to see if you are eligible.

Judgment against you is probably inevitable absent extreme incompetence by the debt collector. If you still work, eventually, they will garnish some of your wages from your employer. Contacting an attorney now may help you negotiate a lower amount to pay back.
