Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia
When is a contract void?
I signed a contract with a gym (AKA health spa) 5 months ago, and now I want to cancel my membership. They are trying to hold me to my contract and make me pay $500. But I found several items that are required by GA state law to be included on the contract that this gym did not include on the contract. Because of the omittance of these items, is the contract now void? Does their violation of the law make the contract void and get me off the hook with them?

Re: When is a contract void?
You should consult with a local attorney. The contract needs to reviewed to see if indeed whatever is missing is grounds to have the contract declared void. If so you may have to take them to Superior Court for a declaratory action.

Without knowing the language of the contract, and what is missing, answering your question would be a guess. Maybe an educated one, but a guess nonetheless. Why not post another question with specifics?

IMMEDIATELY contact the Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs, which may be able to assist you.
