Cost coverage of someone appearing under subpoena

If I am subpoenaed to court who has to cover my transportation costs if it is to an out of state destination.

That depends on such things as the location of the court, that state's rules, whether state or federal court, distance from the courthouse, etc. We don't have any of that information. Call the lawyer who issued the subpoena.
