Damage to personal property

If you damage someone's property, can you hire your own repairman to restore that person's property to it's original condition or idoes the owner of the property have the right to hire whom they choose to make repairs?

There is no yes or no that covers everything, since you gave no facts. There is often not even a requirement the other person uses the money to make the repairs - they can pocket it and keep the damaged item/property. The issue is generally the cost to replace or repair the damaged item or property. If you believe it can be done cheaper, you can submit your estimate to the other person in the negotiation.
