Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

My fiance and I discovered that his ex wife opened accounts in his name and did not pay them. She also took loans and stole over 3,500 from an account that she had access to. I contacted her (with his approval) and asked how she planned on rectifying the situation. She contacted my employer and said I am harrassing her. What should we do?

What you describe are crimes. HE deals with that by contacting the police, and taking the appropriate precautions with his credit report. I am not sure why you are calling her, but it is not likely to help and could cause more problems (as you have seen).

Why would you have done something so foolish? You should not under any circumstances ever talk with a criminal, especially one who is your fiance's ex. Stop. You have greatly complicated the situation for your fiance and you may now have problems as a result.

He should IMMEDIATELY (and without your help):

(1) make a police report

(2) then swear out a warrant for her arrest

(3) make a written dispute with each creditor attaching the police report (he may want to see a lawyer about how to word it)

(4) dispute the debts on his credit report in writing

(5) file for a freeze on his credit reports

(6) follow all the steps for identity theft on http://ftc.gov

Additionally you say she "stole" from an account she had access to. If she was on the account, she may have had a right to do so.
