Concerning garnishment of wages: What Does it mean when it says ''see federal law''? What is the Federal Law on garnishment of wages.

The federal sets the maximum amount that can be taken from your wages. It also set forth other minimum standards which the states must follow regarding the service etc of a wage garnishment.

Federal law establishes a maximum of 25% of "disposable" (after tax) income that may be subject to garnishment.
A higher amount can be garnished if the debt is for child support or alimony. The guidelines outlined above are based on federal law and set out minimum wage protections for debtors in all fifty states.

Both state and federal laws allow for exemptions from wage garnishments. You select the best one for you.
