Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Gift Returned then Stolen

My daughter gave her boyfriend a gift. The relationship ended and he gave her the gift back. A month or so later he was in our home and went into my closet and took the item back without our knowledge. Do we have any recourse to get the gift back.

Re: Gift Returned then Stolen

First, you (or your daughter) need to ask hm to give it back if you have not done so. Since stories of the various parties usually differ in these, and you do not provide a value for the item, asking for it back may also be the last thing you do. As this is a legal board, we can say you can sue him or file a police report for theft, but do you think a trip or two to court arguing over a break-up, or having the police come to his house and arrest him are good resolutions? What is the issue worth, and how long does the break-up need to last?
