Invasion of Privacy?
Homeowner calls multiple paint stores trying to get painter's account information. He was unsuccessful but is this against the law?

You provide virtually no information about what was actually asked, but by your post no information was released. It would be the unusual situation where it would violate the law by asking a question. More likely, your complaint would be with people who gave out account information (though that would unlikely give rise to a legal claim in the absence of something like identity theft/fraud).
