Whayt is the procedure for suing a lawyer that has been retained and is not working in the best interests of the client?

First, you have to get an affidavit from another attorney that the one you are considering suing has committed at least one act of professional negligence. See O.C.G.A. Sec. 9-11-9.1. You can check this out at: http://www.ganet.org/services/ocode/ocgsearch.htm

I would suggest that you consult with a local attorney whom you believe to be honest and not afraid of suing another attorney. You may find that the matter can be resolved without the need for litigation. According to info I have received from the GA bar assn., most client complaints result from bad communication between the lawyer and the client.
