Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Legal protocol for joint property after a break-up

Stupidly, I bought a Bowflex ($750)

with my boyfriend. It is 2 months old

and in mint condition. We just broke

up, and he wants to keep the Bowflex

for himself. I am ok with this, but his

idea of compensation is to find out

how much money we would get for it if

we sold it, then giving me only half of

that total. I am not ok with this

because he is keeping the Bowflex and

not selling it. If we can only get $300

for it, he only wants to give me $150

back and keep the brand-new

Bowflex. Is he right? If I had legal

advice on this, I could know what to

do! Thanks.

Forget the "legal protocol" for a dispute over a bowflex. We can't give give you a value. Just come together, work it out at whatever price, and move on. However, consider that as part owner, you take the hit for half the depreciation.
