Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Libel/slander defamation

My husband is in an ugly custody battle - he is trying to get his children full-time.

His ex-wife has decided to send out about 8 letters to ''witnesses'' talking to the GAL that contain 99% lies...most are about me. My husband's atty tells us that there is nothing we can do. I spoke to a friend who is a DA nad he told me we could at least have a ''cease and desist'' letter written and also an affidavit for her to sign stating that the lies she told were not true. These letters were sent to our pastor and dear friends. I know nothing will ''come'' of it, but I believe a strong letter will at least get her to stop this. We asked (nicely) in an email for her to stop or we seek legal action, but she has continued sending the letters.

I am looking for someone to jsut write a letter on our behalf or consult with us and tell us what else we can do...or what else I can do since she has involved me, primarily.

Thank you.

Re: Libel/slander defamation

This matter should first be addressed to the lawyers in the pending lawsuit, and in the pending case and the Judge who is familiar with the facts. If you need a seperate lawyer, ask for a referral from the current attorney. Obviously, other lawyers will take a fee to get up to speed but it is unlikely it is in your best interest to have multiple lawyers on essentially the same case.
