Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia
I moved to Alabama over a year ago and subsequently rented my home in Georgia. My tenant sent me some mail that had come to my house with my name on it.
Amongst the mail that had been sent to my old address were several solicitations for legal representation for lawsuit. I had no idea why I was being solicited or about the lawsuit.
I called the county court house where I lived formerly. The clerk verified that a lawsuit had been filed against me by a bank. But said she could not give me any information and that I should wait to be served.
According to my tenant, no one like a process server has been by the house nor has any certified mail come or mail from the courts.
How do I handle being sued in GA though I moved over a year go to Alabama?

You hire a lawyer in Georgia to see what the lawsuit is about, and handle it for you. You should not relay on forwarded mail, clerk's office employees who don't practice law, or even websites like this. A lawsuit is a serious matter.
Mr. Riddle is correct. However, in order to proceed against you, the bank would have to have you personally served (not by mail). If that does happen, you will need to hire a Georgia lawyer right away.
You need to be far more proactive. See a Georgia lawyer ASAP. When they don't find you, they probably will serve you by publication, so you could lose a suit that way. Time limits in suits are short, so that means talk to a lawyer today rather than soon.
