Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

I paid a mechanic cash to do some repairs on my car, but he never completed the repairs! Every time I would call or show up at his garage he would always have an excuse! For example, he would say he worked late or it was too hot to work on the car! This went on for weeks! I had to spend more money to get my car towed from his house and to another mechanic because he took so long to give the car back! Is there any way I can legally recover the money I lost! I did not get a receipt for the cash I paid, but I have plenty of witnesses that can attest to what happen.
