Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

partner goes back on Verbal agreement

My dad and I have 3 properties together. 2 original bought in our individual names and 1 new property bought in a new LLC., with him owing me $160,000, the balance of the down pmt I paid on his behalf. As of Sept. 1st we decided to split ownership of the properties with him owning the 2 original properties and me owning the new one. The terms as follows: We would sign the paperwork when the lawyers finished preparing them but for our purposes Sept. 1 is the date for the change. They wouldn't owe me anymore money and I would owe them money or pay the mortgage solely for one of their properties. I opted to pay the mortgage. I gave him the check from my personal check book for September's mortgage and he paid it. Sept. 18, he changed his mind and says he didn't sign anything and to get a lawyer and take him to court. What should I do an is our agreement enforceable?

He was right - get a lawyer. With 3 properties, a lot of money going back and forth, a separate LLC, it is not something appropriate for a message board answer.

It sounds too complicated for a forum like this. You probably need to speak with a local attorney ASAP and have him/her review all the relevant documentation.
