Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Petitioning the terms of an agreement

My husband closed a business and was unable to make payments on a bank loan. The bank took legal action and an agreement was settled on out of court. The civil action file was ''signed-off on'' by a judge in the state court. We now want to change the terms of the agreement and have the bank's ''okay'' to do so. We've been keeping up with the payments for one year, but the terms state that the payments will now double in $. We want to keep the present payment amount. The judge's office cannot tell me what to do, but says my husband may not have to go before the judge in order to change the monthly payment amount. However, he was not allowed to give me any legal advise. How can he petition the court and get this changed without hiring an attorney or going to court? The clerk told me that there is a way to do this . . .but he couldn't divulge the method. Help, please.

If you want legal help, the answer is you pay a lawyer to represent you. Lawyers can no more work for free for you than you would work for free.
