Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Can a publication post a photo of me? Along with what I would consider private information. Now this may be a bit of a special condition case question but I was recently charged with a misdemeanor for shoplifting, my only offense ever. I was informed at the county jail, by the female officer doing the finger printing, that my photo would appear in a magazine called Bad & Busted and said they, they in this instance being the police department had no idea how they came to acquire the photos. Is this legal? I have given no consent for this and I feel it's an invasion of privacy and cause me distress. I do realize that I am at the mercy of the state in this matter but I don't feel it is their right to make my private information public. Is there any possible way to combat this? The establishment, where I was caught, snapped my picture of me for undisclosed reasons.

Your arrest record and mug shots, and photos of you in a business, are not your private information.

When you commit a crime, and get arrested, the fact of that arrest, and much of the record of what happened, are public and are news, and will likely be on the internet and elsewhere forever.

Instead of complaining about the consequences of theft that you cannot affect, you should be hiring a lawyer to help you with the shoplifing case. A conviction will haunt you for your whole life in terms of employment, etc. If you get counsel, you may be able to seek something like pretrial diversion, and keep your record clean, which will help you in the future.
