Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia
Recently, I was charged with possession of alcohol under the age of 21. I was drinking in my home and then decided to go out to a club with a friend where I was caught before I was able to even get in. I am a first time offender who will be starting college in a month. I am an honors student with a 4.0 GPA and a member of the cross country and track and field team at my school. What would the typical punishment be for someone in my case or situation as a first time offender? Or even, what would the case be for someone such as myself attending school in which I would like for my mistake not to interfere with school, work, and athletics?

The fact you posted in completely the wrong area of LawGuru (posting to civil litigation lawyers) when you were charged with a crime (Criminal Defense was the proper area) reinforces what I will tell you - you NEED a lawyer IMMEDIATELY. In a worst case scenario you can do jail time, pay fines, and get expelled from school and lose scholarships. In a best case scenario, with good legal help, you may get a disposition that does not have an effect on school and your future, such as pretrial diversion. Hire a good lawyer Monday. It could greatly affect the outcome. Good luck!
