Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Roommate collections

how should i go about taking my ex roommate (who owes money for unpaid rent and utilites) to court, and how much notice do you need to break a lease if you are an occupant on someone elses' lease? can my ex roommate just abandon his lease without giving proper notice, and could i collect money for not having enough time to find another roommate?
