Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Selling home without partner's cooperation

3 1/2 yrs ago, I purchased a home with my boyfriend; both of our names are on the note and we are not married. I want out of the relationship, but he refuses to sell unless i give him 80% of everything involved. It's a verbally abusive relationship and I want out before it turns physical. I don't want to leave while my name is on the house. I know he is very irresponsible with finances. Is there any way to force him into selling the house or making him understand that the split needs to be 50/50. I don't know what to do, please help. Thank you.

Re: Selling home without partner's cooperation

You could, with an attorney, file a partition action. That tends to be expensive, but if you can't resolve the issue, this would possibly be a route to pursue.
