If the relative value of your claim is only a few thousand (or even a few hundred dollars) you are better served filing a claim in magistrate court. If the repair place is reputatable, they will offer to fix the underlying damage.

If they are not, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and State Office of Consumer Affairs as this will pressure some businesses to act.

If that fails, file a small claims case in Magistrate's Court.

Be sure to have another reputable mechanic document the mistake immediately.
