sueing a minor

My son was involved in a minor rearend collision when he was 16 yrs. old. He is now 18. Can the other party legaly sue him?

The statute of limitations for personal injury is 2 years from the date of the injury. The stutute of limitations for property damage is 4 years from the date of the damage.
