Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia
tuitions reimbursement payback
City offered tuition reimbursement for employees with no cap. With stipulation of being paid back if left w/in 2 yr period. Signed agreement of that. (no terms of payback on agreement) Have been told by high officials that if left the city would work with you on repayment of tuition. I left, agreed on 100/mth, more when extra money was available. City mgr agreed. My monthy payments(4) were miss applied, they didn't realized I had been paying, and now are saying I owe all of monies. Even though they have found my payments due to their accounting error they are wanting lump sum. Even though they have let others made payments, they are saying the didn't agree on 100/mth that was only temp. and the amount I owe is to much. My argument isn't that I owe the money, but I have tried to work out payment agreements, doubling amount to pay off in half the time. What do I have to stand on with no written way for the money to be paid back? Only verbal agreement of payments which they have changed their story on amount agreed upon.

You can either keep trying to work this out yourself or hire a local attorney to deal with these bureaucrats. I do this all the time.

If there is no dispute about owing the money, and you are going to pay them one way or the other, keep trying to work it out and keep paying (keeping track of all payments, dates, etc.). A lawyer simply adds to your expenses.
