Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

unfinished work

My husband and I payed a guy who claimed to be a mechanic to fix our vehicle. He told us he needed the money upfront and that he would be finished within a week. Unfortunetly it's been nearly 2 months and he still is'nt finished. We think that he has messed something up, the reason he's not finished. Can we sue him for our money back. We are also planning on getting someone else to redo what he has messed up. If so can we also sue him for the money we are going to have to pay out for the other possible damages and unfinished work. If so how do we go about doing this. This would be our first time dealing with the judicial system. Can someone plaese help me, I really need my car and my money. Thanks

Re: unfinished work

Reputable mechanics do not charge you upfront, so that was your big mistake.

Depending what the written work order says (and I sure hope you have one) you may be able to sue for what you paid. You probably cannot sue for the other amounts you asked about. Suing is no guarantee that you will collect anything.
