Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

Workplace Pain and Suffering

Is it legal for management to state one thing and then turn around and say no, it's this now?

For example, I transferred to my company's corporate offices after being told my tenure would count. Now it doesn't and I'm on a late shfit. This means my son who is another state cannot come with me working so late. I was told it'd be only 30 days. Now it's to be 60 days or longer. What do I do? Should I get a lawyer? The suffering I'm feeling inside is unimaginable and I feel like I'm dying due to this company and I moved from home for a 'better' opportunity.

Re: Workplace Pain and Suffering

Do you have a contract that dictates they cannot ask you to work other shifts? Unless there is a contract, the employer has a general right to hire and terminate employees based on their work requirements. They also obviously have the right to direct employees in the job. There is no lawsuit simply because you don't like your job or agree with how they run the company, just like the employer does not file a lawsuit when an employee does something they do not like. Many people do not like their job, boss or a decision made by the employer. If there is something other than job dissatisfaction, you may want to repost.

Unless you have a contract that sets out the terms of your employment, the employer can do whatever it wants, including hiring, firing, determining time and place of employment, etc.
