Legal Question in Health Care Law in Georgia

Fiance's medical records

My fiance and I have been living together for 5-1/2 years. We opted not to marry secondary to insurance restraints(I am a cancer pt). Since his death, 2 weeks ago, I have heard that he had the diagnoses of hepatitis A through E, as well as MRSA, VRSA and septicemia. Hospital will not release any info. to me at all and his immediate family is uncooperative secondary to possible life insurance litations between myself and them. PLEASE HELP ME. This, I believe, would merit immediate attention. Thank you.

Re: Fiance's medical records

Discuss your concerns with your personal physician. If he thinks that additional information is warranted, then he may be able to initiate a discussion with your fiance's attending physician, who might be willing to tell your your doctor what areas of investigation into your own health should be considered, without actually revealing any of your fiance's personal diagnoses.

The above information is offered as a courtesy and does not imply or establish a nurse-patient or attorney-client relationship.
