Legal Question in Health Care Law in Georgia

Hi, I went to the Health Department last Tuesday for an HIV test, in the survey the nurse asked my about my partner and i told her I was gay. It has been a week now, and my whole family knows about the test and me being gay because another nurse called my sister's friend and told her. What should I do.

I am sorry you are having to go through this situation, especially since it was unexpected. Unfortuantely, there is little you can do to supress that information since it is already out there.

With that said, it appears your nurse broke various confidentiality laws and violated your HIPPA rights, and you may have legal recourse against both her and the institution where she works.
