Legal Question in Health Care Law in Georgia
Is it possible to remove a de-facto medical power of attorney right (i.e.: prevent the closest living relative from being part of the decision making process in any way in the event an adult is incapacitated or declared incompetent)? If so how can I go about this, and will I have to declare someone else specifically?
I do not want my father making medical decisions for me under any circumstances (I'm an adult). Trying to see what my options are. Currently in GA, but would like something that will hold up in most states (I move and travel a lot).

What is a de facto medical power of attorney?
Why not make a health care power of attorney and appoint an agent in that document? Health care powers, if properly drafted, are generally recognized anywhere.
