Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia
Hi
Im brazilian and used to live in US for 5 years. I got credit card debt that I didnt pay and my former roomate told me that someone went to the appartment looking for me regarding this debt. I was planning to visit US since I have a tourist visa but Im very afraid I could be arrested entering the country or something similar. Do you have any idea how this works?
Best
Javier

Javier, unless there are criminal charges or a warrant for your arrest (which I would doubt is the case over a credit card debt), the odds of you being arrested upon trying to enter the US are slim to none. I can't tell you that it 100% won't happen, but customs is not in the business of collecting credit card debt for private companies. What is more likely, but still not a huge possibility, is that you will be served with civil law suit papers (to collect the debt) if the company knows you are here. Again, not likely.
Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.*******
