If i am a citizen of the U.S. through naturalization since 1997. For what period of time can I stay out of the country? Is there a permit I need to get? Do i need to register at the consulate in the country where I will live? Thanks,

Re: citi
As a U.S. Citizen you can remain outside the U.S. as long as you would like. It is not the same as having a green card. You can certainly let the Consulate know you are visiting the country (it is the prudent thing to do) but it is not required.
