Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia
Deportation
My father is in prison currently and is going to facing an immigration judge in a week. My father has lived in the U.S. most of his life, owns his own business and has two children who are U.S. citizens.I was wondering if there is anything we could do to help prevent him from being deported

Re: Deportation
In order for me to determine whether there is a chance your Dad has relief from deportation, I need more facts. Is he a lawful permanent resident? How long has he lived in the U.S.? How old are you and your sibling? Is he married? What is the status of his spouse? Why is he in proceedings? The answers to these questions is critical, in addition to other facts that are needed. Please tell your dad that if he does not have a lawyer, to get one. When he appears before the judge the first time, he can request to continue in order to get a lawyer. He should not face any judge without the benefit of knowing what his rights are and what chances he has to remain in the U.S. Good luck to you, and do not hesitate to inquire again if you have more questions.
