Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia
Divorce before getting green card
I filed the I-485 (or 475), Adjustment of Status in March of 2003. I got married because my wife got pregnant. She has two children from her previous marriage. Since I was laid off from my job as an engineer and we moved into her house, she tells me to get out and go back home everytime we get into an argument. I feel like I am being abused and she is using my situation. What would happen if I file for divorce before I get my green card? Is there any way I get get my green card so I can stay in the country and be with my daughter?
