Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia

My husband is detained with final order of removal. He wants to file for convention against torture because he feared he will be tortured if deported to his country after residing here for more than 20 years. Who does he ask for reasonable fear interview and how would he do that?

Thanks.

You question is far beyond an internet message board. He should have had a lawyer long, long before any final determinations were made. Get a LOCAL lawyer he can deal with - ignore solicitations from people in other states with whatever offers, who should know that you need a local lawyer to assist you and it is not in your interest to deal with out of state people on a very urgent matter.

I am tired of seeing these ridiculous posts by Scott Riddle. To the individuals that submit questions, immigration law is federal law and can be practiced from ANYWHERE. I have clients from Nigeria, Jamaica, Cambodia, Bhutan, and states thoughout the US etc that I have never even met because technology makes that possible. Virtual offices and alternative methods of practicing law are on the rise! Have you never heard of Virtual offices, Skype, video conferencing, etc? I guess not since you were admitted to the bar in 1991...maybe you prefer the old-school method and you will surely be left behind if you can't adapt to change. I know several immigration ttorneys who have clients coming to them from other cities/states because they have good reputations and are outstanding attorneys so stop making it seem as though someone in another state cannot adequately represent a client. It's all about what the client and attorney are willing to do to make things happen and there are plenty of clients that have no issue with the distance between themselves and the attorney so why should you? Scott, you are very rude and inconsiderate and come across as very ignorant! Any lawyer is entitled to comment on these posts and it should be up to the potential client to choose whom they desire without you trying to deter them. I guess you really are desperate for clients to the point that you result to under-handed tactics such as these. The funny thing is, a few people have retained me AFTER you went on your little tirade and it's probably because you come across as a jerk. I don't even understand why you take the time out to try to belittle other attorney because I don't even see immigration law as one of your practice areas on your site. So let me put up a buyer beware for all to see: Immigration law is a very complex area of law and one should not hire an attorney with so many practice areas such as yourself.
