illegal grandmother
my grandmother has alzheimers but lives in El Salvador C.A. Out of all my moms siblings only one sister still lives there, and is the one caring for my grandmother at the moment. my aunt is sent a monthly payment from all her siblings to help her care for my grandmother. but my aunts and uncles dont feel that the money they send isnt put well to use like they intended to. my mom would like to know if with the help of all her brothers and sisters here in the U.S they can bring her here to care for her?

Re: illegal grandmother
First of all, your grandmother is not illegal, okay. Is your mother or any of her brothers and/or sisters a U.S. citizen? If not, what is their status? If anyone of them is a U.S. citizen, he or she can petition for their mother (your grandmother), and she can consular process from El Sal within a short period. On the other hand, if your mom and her brothers and sisters are only lawful permanent residents, or on TPS, they cannot petition for your grandmother for a visa. In fact, it would be very difficult to get your grandmother here, unless your mom requested some form of humanitarian parole because of your grandmother's health. That would require a tremendous amount of evidence that your aunt and uncles in El Salvador are not caring for your grandmother, and that she needs to come to the U.S. for care. Hard to do. The best help your mom has is if one of her brothers or sisters was a U.S. citizen. One more thing, if one of your mom's siblings is a lawful permanent resident and eligible to apply for citizenship, tell them to do it. It won't take long; as soon as they get citizenship, they can petition for their mother. We do these cases often. A U.S. citizen petitions for their parent - and they are soon here. Good luck! Any questions, just call my office.
