Legal Question in Immigration Law in Georgia
I married a US citizen & want to be legal
Hi,
I am a UK citizen, English. I came here legally with my passport , no visa needed , to visit my boyfriend (a US citizen) of 1 year standing.
During my stay things changed and we married. I couldnt face going back to England alone and he could not afford to leave his life behind so ...
My stay was due to legally end and so with the internets help we filled in the relevent forms to change my status and try to stay, we did this before my stay was due to be over as required but did not send off a cheque with the forms, instead asked for financial assistance as we are struggeling to make ends meet, only one person is earning... The forms were returned unprocessed and financial assistance denied.
We then took legal advise to cover us ultil we could get the money together and were told that we should have done things very differently and basically we panicked a bit.
I have now been here a year longer than I should
We both want to stay in the US I want to be a legal resident able to work and contribute both to my home and the country in general.
Will I get deported if I apply and not be allowed back in the USA? and if not
What is the best way for me to try to become a legal resident?
