Auto Insurance liability

If a car is sold to another individual, and that person causes and accident shortly after and is not insured. who is liable? If this person has not had the title transferred to their name?

The driver is responsible if he or she was negligent and caused the wreck. If the driver has liability insurance on another car that insurance usually has a clause in it that any cars purchased within 30 days are covered by that policy, too. So if the driver had an existing policy on another car and the new car was purchased 30 days before the wreck or less the liability insurer of the driver must provide coverage. That is all out the window if the driver canceled the policy before the wreck.
