Legal Question in Insurance Law in Georgia
Life Insurance cancellation
My wife and I took out life insurance policies in Michigan roughly 4 years ago. Last summer we moved to Georgia and shortly after changed banks. We notified the insurance company of the changes and authorized them to automatically withdraw the funds from our new bank. They never did. Instead they continued to try andwithdraw from our old bank, resulting in fnes to us and no payment to them. this continued even after I called them to verify they had the correct information, which they did confirm (quote''we have everything we need, we just forgot to flip the switch in our computers''). Now they have cancelled the policy for non-payment. First, is this a breach of contract on their part since we have acted in good faith in authorizing payments? When I called the representative said that they would take care of it since it was their fault, no need to send a check. Second, as I am talking with their representatives, they are stating that I need to makeup all the back payments for the months they did not have their system set up properly (over $600.00). Am I responsible for the months that they didn't act on my policy?

Re: Life Insurance cancellation
Of course you need to pay. Insurance isn't free.
And when they didn't take it out, you were supposed to send a check until they did).
