Legal Question in Insurance Law in Georgia
I owned a garage that I let a tenant use. He stored tools, etc plus a 1957 Chevy (insured for $33,000). Someone burned the garage and the contents (arson). Am I liable for the contents of the garage?

You MAYor may not be liable depending on the details of the fire and the tenancy. The good news - your insurance probably covers you if you are.

I agree with Mr. Ashman's answer. In addition you need to report this fire to your insurance carrier immediately if you have not already done so. Sometimes insurers can avoid paying if the insured does not report the claim promptly. This is true about both the fire loss claim and any potential liability claims.
