Legal Question in Insurance Law in Georgia
Partial Pay of benefit issued
My 62 yr old brother died 2 months ago. He had a $25,000 group life insurance policy from his job by MN Life/Securian. They never reached out so I helped my 88 yr old father, who paid for the funeral, fill out and submit a beneficiary form. Securian sent him a check for $12,606--half. We called and they said that was all he gets. We asked if there was a second beneficiary and they said 'maybe', but would not identify the name. We only have 4 people in our family that would have been listed as beneficiary since my brother was never married and had no kids, but they denied each of the 4 names. Either they don't want to pay all or something fraudulent is going on. How can I get to the bottom of this? Thanks in advance for listening.....

Get a lawyer to write them a letter asking for that information. If the insurer still won 't provide it, sue the insurer and ask for the information in discovery. Also, make a complaint to the Georgia Ins Commissioner.
