Legal Question in Insurance Law in Georgia
I recently purchased auto insurance by placing a down payment of $292. The insurance company would not fax proof of insurance to the car dealership or email it to me so that I could print it out so I ended up going with a different company. Once I got home from the dealership, I contacted the first insurance company and told them I needed to cancel the policy with them and have my money refunded. I was told I had to fax in writing that I wanted a refund and that my current insurance company had to fax my binder. All of that was done, and they are still refusing to refund my money claiming they faxed the dealership. At this point I don't care if they hand delivered the proof I no longer want their insurance and to the best of my knowledge can not legally be covered by two different companies. To add insult to injury, they offered to refund me $5 of the down payment I have paid. What do I have to do in order to get my money back from this company?

They are banking on the fact that $292 is not enough money for a person to file suit and certainly not enough to hire an attorney. You should make a complaint with the Georgia Insurance Commissioner's Office. Look that agency up online.
