Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Georgia

curious if Georgia has any laws that define the rights of an employee to intellectual property while employed and under a Intellectual Property Agreement. The current agreement does state that the laws of the state will take precedence. The area of interest is in developing intellectual property that is outside the area of job description and without any use of any existing intellectual property of the company and done on non-working hours. Tried looking an GA code but that was beyond my skill level.

thanks for any info you can give

I suspect you have missread the agreement which likely only has state law kick in if the agreement conflicts with state law. Most employers write such agreements very broadly to leave you with no or few rights to inventions and you should not sign one without a lawyer reviewing it. A lawyer would have to see it to interpret it.
