Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Georgia
Here's a Q: I'm looking into a Craigslist Offer to buy a collection of audio books on-line from an individual. He has amassed them on a single disk (and not in original retail packaging). My assumption is that he is selling his personal collection. But if they have been mass produced to sell, I may be falling into a Government Sting to capture folks buying copywrited material on-line. What questions (if any) can I ask this fellow to protect myself against falling prey to an organized sting (e.g. SHould I ask him: Is this an organized sting of any kind, or.... are you an individual in this transaction or does this transaction have any connection with any company or department of the Government in any way?)? Thanks for your help.

The simple, conservative, safe answer to your question is don't buy. There is NO question you can ask that will give you any insight into whether it's a government "sting". In other words, there is absolutely no law that says cops, Feds, ATF, etc., can't lie to you.
Best of luck.*****The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.******
If they are not in the original packaging and are all on one disk, you can safely assume the copy is illegal. Don't buy it and report the offender to Craigslist.
