Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia

Age & Sex Discrimination 58 year old male

I have been employed as corp controller for corp with about 500 employees. It was always ''understood'' that I would take my boss' position when he retired (VP - Finance).

Company owner has a daughter being groomed to take over the business. Because of this, a woman was hired (mid 40's, MBA in Finance-worked for a bank) and is being groomed for VP - Finance.

Do I have a basis for a discrimination suit?

The mere fact that one loses a promotion to someone who may be younger or of a different sex is not grounds for a claim. That is about all that can taken from your facts, other than the pending change at the top. Even there, it may be evidence that the new person wants her own people - a normal occurrence. A claim requires much more than speculation and a lost promotion. If you have more, you'll have to lay it all out for a lawyer who handles those type of cases.
