Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
What is the basis for an employee to deduct money from an employee's paycheck. This is what happened, my daughter's prior employeer took almost 300.00 from her paycheck because 1. He said the draw was short and blamed her even though 3 other employees have access and he has no proof as to who took the 80.00 from the draw. 2. A customer paid 60.00 and the money came up missing, no idea who took the money. 3. Some t-shirt missing from inventory no idea who took them and finally and emplyee left he said the employee owed him 50.00 and told my daugther not to give the employee his last pay check. The employee came for the check the owner was in jail at that time on another issue, the emplyee demanded his check my daughter gave it to him, so the owner took that money from my daughter's last check. What to know what she should do regarding the above. Thanks

This appears to be a case of multiple violations of wage and hour laws as well as perhaps fraud and other torts on behalf of your daughter's employer. I need more details to be able to give your daughter a more specific evaluation. Feel free to call me if you wish to discuss this matter in greater detail.
