Broken Promise
I quit a good job to go to another compnany - during our interview the owner said he wanted to make sure he was making the right hire because he hated to hire some one and then have to let them go.
I was given paperwork at the beginning stating I woud be in a professional environment - it was not - yesterday I was told they no longer had the money to pay me after only 3 months - they had been dragging their feet on coming through with the benefits they had promised at my hiring. I would like to sue them for loss of wages (I will be on unemployment) until I find a new position. I am 54 and it may not be easy - my co-workers used nasty sexual remarks - were extremely unprofessional - calling each other baby, little girl, boy, grandpa, etc. I wanted out and was about to start my job search - but they beat me to it. There are others there that flake off all day. I was a very hard worker. Can I do anything?

Employment is generally "at will," meaning you can be fired for any reason or no reason (but for limited reasons not raised in your post). Similarly, you have the right to quit at any time, and said you were going to do so had they not beat you to it. You made the decision to quit the other job, and that is always a risk.
