To collect 5 months wages from my prevous employer

I was laid off on June 13, 2003. At the time of lay off, my employer owed me 5 months of salary. It has been more than a year and I still haven't received any money from them. They are a profit making company, still in business. I can't afford a private lawyer and need some help in getting the money owed to me.

There are a number of attorneys who might be willing to take your case on a contingency basis; that is, you would only pay a fee as a percentage of what they could obtain for you in litigation. You can also contact the state department of labor to see if they can help you. However, many times the Georgia DOL is interested primarily in making sure you received at least minimum wage, so if your pay rate was significantly above that amount, they may not be your best bet, but it is worth a call to them.
