Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
am considered a private contractor and receive tax form 1099. Have been having trouble collecting pay check from employer (client). Work part time for employer. Been dealing with employer for about 7 months. Started out paying weekly. Slowly gotten almost three weeks behind. What should I do?

You can press the issue, or even threaten and file a small claims case. Obviously, that will likely mean the end of the job. A better option is to look for another position, then press the issue. Obviously we don't know the financial condition of the company but that is not a good sign. You can call the GA Dept of Labor, but they are less likely to assist a contractor and, again, that would likely mean the end of your position.
