Legal Question in Employment Law in Georgia
Defamation & Innuendo
A supervisor from another dept asked about a wicker basket. She was loud and confrontational. She kept saying the basket belonged to customer service. Her tone, her stance implied I stole it. Other witnesses felt the same. If HR does not intervene, do I have a defamation case since she did not explicitly call me a theif...it was implied?

Re: Defamation & Innuendo
Some practical questions - What is a wicker basket worth to you? Losing your job? What are your damages? But for you continuing the issue, would others have simply (and reasonably) brushed it off and forgotten about it? Did they think you stole it? Just ask yourself whether a judge and courtroom are the place to air out differences over a moved wicker basket and an "implication" that someone "stole" it. What would your employer think about it?
